Pennsylvania 500 - Pocono Raceway

One year ago:
Jeff and Jeff came home 2-3 in the Pennsylvania 500 presented by AOL. Jeff Burton finished 2nd, and Gordon finished 3rd. His finish Sunday was his third top-5 in 4 races, even though his tranny went sour at the end.

Jeff Gordon lead over 120 laps in the Pocono Mountains, but pit strategy dictated an 8th place finish. Gordon's team decided to take on four tires late in the race when everyone else only got fuel. This put him back in about 15th for the restart of the race. Ricky Rudd, who was ahead of him at the time would have only been 1 point behind Gordon in the season standings if the race had finished that way. However, Gordon battled his way up to eighth in the final 25 laps, while Rudd could only salvage an 11th place finish.

Dale Jarrett was involved in two accidents after starting in 37th. He would finish in 41st, and is now third in the points standings. Jeff Gordon's lead over Ricky Rudd is 45 points as the teams head to Indianapolis, a track where Gordon is looking for his third win at.
